
Goals galore as KHU weekend fixtures deliver excitement across divisions

The Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) leagues produced thrilling action over the weekend, as goals flowed across various venues, with several teams tightening their grip on their league campaigns, while others stumbled in crucial encounters.
In the Premier League Women (PLW), Amira Sailors proved clinical, as they defeated Twinkle 4–2 at Impala Club.

Valentine Akinyi opened the scoring in the 17th minute, before Yvette Kanyandong’ (33rd) and Linah Anzala (41st) added to the tally.
Twinkle fought back through Elizabeth Ndung’u (36th) and Velma Owino (51st, 55th), but Amira’s first-half dominance sealed all three points.
Elsewhere, KU Women were edged 1–0 by Sliders, with Daisy Okuku’s 24th-minute strike proving decisive in a tightly contested affair.
The weekend also saw Twinkle and KU Women share the spoils in a 2–2 draw on Sunday, as Claudia Imo (1st) and Sheila Magare (50th) scored for KU, while Love Wanjala’s brace (4th, 44th) earned Twinkle a point.
In the Premier League Men (PLM), Strathmore University overcame KCA University 2–0 at Parklands Sports Club.
Dickens Okumu (38th) and Paul Odero (60th) found the net to secure victory for the students.
The Men’s Super League (SLM) witnessed high-scoring duels.
KU Men registered an impressive 4–2 win over Parkroad Badgers, with goals from Martin Gikonya (24th), Lewis Ogolla (25th), Timothy Juma (32nd), and Godwin Siro (49th).
The Badgers’ efforts from Brian Mwangi (8th) and Francis Robi (42nd) were not enough to salvage a result.
At Highway Secondary School, Wazalendo Masters were held to a 1–1 draw by Sailors on Saturday, Griffins Bosire (9th) and Abraham Musee (27th) trading goals.
The following day, Sailors turned on the style, crushing UoN Men 4–1. Job Alvin’s 21st-minute opener for UoN was quickly overturned by goals from Indiazi Mulindi (41st, 42nd), Solomon Mbandi (46th), and Musee (56th).
Parkroad Tigers also featured in a thrilling 2–2 draw against Wazalendo Masters. Griffins Bosire (21st) and Gideon Kimonge (30th) gave Wazalendo a two-goal cushion, before Parkroad hit back through Lannox Onyango’s quickfire brace (43rd, 45th).
In the National League Eastern Zone (NLM–EZ), JKUAT Men were dominant, recording a 3–0 win over Egerton University courtesy of goals from Ezekiel Ndolo (31st), Calistus Cherotich (43rd), and Brian Mulonzi (50th).
In the same zone, Parklands SC-Legacy suffered a narrow 3–2 defeat to Mombasa West, who came from behind with goals from Hassan Abdi (27th) and a brace from Olsson Githua (36th, 53rd).

GHF Rift Pirates earned a vital 2–0 victory over Masai Mara, with late goals from Alex Wanjala (51st) and Emmanuel Omondi (59th) sealing the points.
In the National League Western Zone (NLM–WZ), Oyugis Hockey Club and Kisii University shared the spoils in a 2–2 draw.
Kisii went ahead through Samuel Olweny (8th) and Brian Areba (44th), but Oyugis responded through Cliff Otieno’s brace (45th, 47th).
Thika Rovers also fell 2–1 to JKUAT, with Presley Bwire (45th) and Calistus Cheruiyot (53rd) netting for the visitors while Levy Kiboi pulled one back for Thika in the 51st minute.
In the Women’s Super League (SLW), Wazalendo Pearls continued their fine run, defeating Daystar University Ladies 2–0 at Athi River.
Grace Kabii (20th) and Nancy Mwichigi (51st) were on target.
However, the fixture between Gorillas Ladies and MMU Ladies failed to take place, as neither team turned up.
